April 5th, 2025, GEKIKEN SESSION

The practice will be open to all martial artists who include sword handling in their practice.

There are no restrictions regarding styles or schools; everyone is welcome.

The rules are as follows:

1- It is prohibited to injure or harm your opponent.

2- You should think of the shinai as if it were a real, sharp sword.

3- All attacks and techniques are allowed as long as they do not endanger your practice partner.

The goal of the meeting is to create a practice session where different martial artists can test their skills and techniques in front of members of other disciplines using shinai (bamboo swords).

This is a NON-COMPETITIVE meeting, so there will be no winners or losers, no judges declaring defeat or victory, and no point system.

When practicing, do not try to strike your opponent just for the sake of it; focus on your own style and try to recreate a combat situation as realistically as possible.

If you think of your shinai just as a bamboo sword, you won’t have a satisfactory practice; try to think of it as a real sword in your hands.

This should be a practice that helps you improve by reflecting on your own technique. The goal is not to be better than others.
